Australian telco Optus has shown that a list of the earliest 50 websites which are going to be provided with 5G courtesy of Ericsson.
The operator intends to construct 1,200 websites across Australia from March 2020. Optus’ first sites will be set up across Sydney and Melbourne.
Kent Wu, Optus’ Head of Network Access Planning & Quality stated:
“This is yet another substantial landmark for Optus because we carry on with our customer-focused 5G roll-out program. We’re continuing to provide a more dynamic and advanced 5G system for the sake of our clients.”
Optus will probably use a multi-vendor strategy for its 5G rollout, even though that will not be including Huawei due to the ban employed by the Australian authorities over national security issues (you might have noticed a thing or two about it).
“We’re working closely together with Ericsson to run critical inter-operability apparatus testing so we could provide a harmonious 5G home broadband merchandise to clients and start up these sites within our expressions of curiosity effort,” remarks Wu.
“We’re further demonstrating our multi-vendor strategy to Optus 5G helps deliver a more dynamic and advanced 5G system for the sake of our clients.”
