Samsung and Vodafone will’make history’ this weekend by unveiling the world’s very first remote-controlled 5G car in the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Drifting champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. will drift the car around a track all while utilizing virtual reality to view in the car’s cockpit.
Speaking before this event, Gittin Jr. stated:
“Being an expert fun-haver, I have built my career about pushing the limitations of automobile control. But, I have never pictured myself becoming mad behind the wheel utilizing VR, telephones, and distant driving equipment.
I will wear a VR headset to place on an enjoyable interactive display for the Goodwood audience. And I will be driving the S-Drone in the Future Lab, on the other side of the Goodwood estate. This will become crazy!”
Gittin Jr. will begin with driving the vehicle, a Lincoln MKZup the famous Goodwood Hillclimb. As you’d expect, a Samsung Galaxy S10 will probably be utilized together with the organization’s VR headset.
Yoon Lee, SVP of Product Innovation and Content & Services in Samsung Electronics America, commented:
“This proof of concept is a terrific stepping stone towards distant presence use-case utilizing 5G along with the Goodwood FOS has been the ideal testing ground.
We’re thrilled to direct future consumer expertise in 5G by pushing the bounds of the 5G product portfolio and technology.”
Vodafone’s newly established 5G system will offer the connectivity.
Max Taylor, Consumer Director at Vodafone UK, stated:
“The motorist, who’s positioned in a different place at Goodwood, will direct the autonomous automobile by means of a VR headset round the trail.
Vodafone’s 5G network provides rates up to now 10 times faster than 4G and super low latency, which can be Essential for this program where an instantaneous reaction time is critical”
At least Vodafone’s most up-to-date 5G concept is not as wacky than its previous presentation.
